Description

Jake’s story is one of hope, facing huge disappointment, and having to bounce back. He is an award-winning songwriter and recording artist, and has released two albums and three singles to date. He was awarded “Rising Star of the Year” at the 2001 Artistic Excellence Awards, nominated for “Rock Album of the Year” at the 2011 GMA Covenant Awards, and nominated for “Seasonal Song of the Year” at the 2019 GMA Covenant Awards. He is currently writing and recording for a new album. A survivor of several major health setbacks, Jake is also an avid tennis player, and spends much of his free time outdoors.

Born in Sudbury, Ontario, Jake began writing and performing in his junior year of high school. He quickly established a reputation throughout Northern Ontario as a talented singer-songwriter, and recorded his debut album I Still Believe in 2001. The album earned him radio airplay and critical acclaim across Northern Ontario, and he was named "Rising Star of the Year" at the 2001 Artistic Excellence Awards for his efforts.

Amidst the promise and positive exposure, however, Jake's health was struggling. After nearly losing his life to liver dysfunction in 1998, the young singer-songwriter would endure many years of deteriorating health before finally entering the recording studio again in 2010. This time, he chose to work with award-winning producer Andrew Horrocks. Welcome Home was released in June of 2011, and went on to be nominated for "Rock Album of the Year" at the 2011 GMA Covenant Awards. "Mistake", the first of 5 singles released from the album, went on to be voted the #1 song on Toronto JOY 1250's New Canadian Countdown, and was named one of the 2011 CANCON radio favorites by MORE Radio Magazine.

Jake took another health-induced hiatus from music before entering the recording studio again in 2017. The result was Christ The King, his first seasonal single, and the song was nominated for "Seasonal Song of the Year" at the 2019 GMA Covenant Awards. Jake also recorded another single True in 2019, and released a remastered version of his single I Believe in March of 2020.

"Music has always been about being true to myself and my faith," Jake says. "I'm a big fan of how music can bring people together. If through my songs I can be a voice of hope to one person, I've done my job right and it's all been worth it."
