The Hotshot Freight Train formed in January of 2005 with the intention of creating music that reflects both the hardworking spirit of the people of Appalachia and a love of gritty rock n roll. Since signing with Future Destination Records in 2007, THSFT has released 2 full-length albums that have earned the band both local and regional attention. Recognized as East Tennessee’s Best Local Band by readers of the Knoxville News-Sentinel in 2010, the band’s sound can best be described as Narrative rock. Even the band’s moniker follows this theme, being derived from a common literary device used by beat poet Jack Kerouac. It’s been over 2 years since the release of The Hotshot Freight Train’s last album, “Poetic Devices and Personal Vices”. What took so long? Life....the stories. The band’s new record, “Get Low”, is a collection of their stories. “Get Low” is THSFT’s tribute to home, family, and heritage. Part prayer, part confession, part protest.
