Update: Rumors of Friends movie not true after all

| | Comments (10)
Update: As is the fate of many a Hollywood rumor, turns out the Friends buzz was amiss. Warner Brothers issued a statement denying it. Better luck next time, y'all...
--
If the absence of the Central Perk gang has made you go through withdrawal, you may get your fix soon enough. Rumors have begun circulating that the Friends cast might reunite on the big screen.

The cast has supposedly taken cues from another famous New York ensemble, you know, those four sassy socialites who made a pretty penny on their feature film. On various blogs, "a source" has been quoted as saying, "Jennifer, Courtney and the rest of the cast are keen to reprise their roles, under the right circumstances."

Apparently, securing starlet Jennifer Aniston had been part of the hold-up on a potential film people have been buzzing about since the series' finale in 2004.  "What's held back a Friends movie so far is that people were worried that Jennifer had simply become too famous to play Rachel again. But the truth is that Jennifer is finally willing to do it, and she'd love to work with that whole team of actors and producers again," a source informed Daily Mail's Mail Online.

Nothing sounds too set-in-stone so far, but keep up the blog-watch for updates.

This would be a painful movie.

Better luck? More like disaster averted. Does anyone really want to see a movie adaptation of this highly overrated sitcom?

such a fun movie !

Don't get me wrong I am a HUGE F.R.I.E.N.D.S fan, however I just think that a movie adaptaion will somewhat distort the memory of our beloved Friends. There is no way that they can film a feature length motion picture in front of a live audience. And therefore the primary essence of Friends is being revolked, and therefore runing that perfect ending that was masterly produced and directed to end the Sitcom at the hight of its power. Which has never been done before... so PLEASE Bright Kuffman Crane LEAVE FRIENDS ALONE FOR G*DS SAKE AND JUST LET THE SHOW R.I.P :)

I think I'd like to see them make the movie just so it would get bad reviews and flop on opening weekend.

I would love too see my beloved crew once again !!!
I pray for a comeback. Pleaseeeee !!!!
I love "FRIENDS" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

friends is the best show ever!!!!! a movie would be amazing and if there isnt a movie and there isnt a reunion then thats it there will be nothing new of friends ever. I would hate to see that happen. I too would go see it and buy it on dvd even if it was bad because its friends, and besides it wouldnt be bad because its friends. oh and if you wanted them to make it a movie to see it flop then well youre wrong because it wouldnt flop it would be huge sucess saying that is just mean

Oh, yeah! I'd be the first person in line :-) My wife and I loved that show...we could totally relate to the characters and humor. I think a Friends movie (with the right script) would be a great success!

I LOVE FRIENDS AND I BET THE MOVIE WOULD BE ONE OF THE BEST MOVIES OF ALL TIME!!! IF ANYONE DOESN'Y BELIEVE ME...

I'd rather see reunion episodes...wouldn't be the same on the big screen. ANyway, I gather all info ona possible reunion or movie on my site friendsmovie.org - turns out everything based on the domainname friendsthemovie.com, which will come free within "18 months"... Friendsmovie.org > also more info, video, images...
