Tao Lin's Eeeee Eee Eeee Getting Film Treatment

Tao Lin's Eeeee Eee Eeee Getting Film Treatment

Eeeee Eee Eeee, the debut novel from author Tao Lin, features talking woodland creatures, secret tunnels and all manner of absurdity popping up in otherwise realistic settings. It seemed fertile ground from which Lin, a master of self-promotion, could have greenlit a movie adaptation helmed by Michel Gondry or some other master of quirk and charm. Instead, the author signed over the movie rights for Eeeee Eee Eeee to Kacper Jarecki, a New York librarian and avid fan.

Jarecki is now chronicling the struggle of adapting the novel into a screenplay on his Tumblr with emoticon-heavy entries about finding the right music, buying equipment and recruiting co-workers to star in the film for free. He’s also developing a Kickstarter account to finance the project, most of which he plans to film in his apartment in front of a green screen. Jarecki’s directorial experience so far includes a series of short films posted to his Current TV account. Watch his lesson in hugging below.
