Father John Misty Returned to Twitter Yesterday For An Extensive Fan Q&A

Paste cover star Father John Misty made his glorious return to Twitter yesterday for an extensive Q&A with fans. The social media world lost one of its brightest, most cynical stars when he resigned from Twitter and Instagram last fall, but as we near the release of his new album Pure Comedy, it appears he felt it was time to put those thumbs to work again. He covered a fairly wide range of topics, with answers that varied from nonsensical to sincere, although sometimes it was a little difficult to tell which was which, which only adds to the whole thing.
For best results we recommend scrolling through the feed yourself, but for those who have literally anything better to do, here are a couple highlights, including his thoughts on Fleet Foxes fantastic new song “Third of May / Odaigahara,” the tangled web of the Chipotle ad he was once offered, the qualifications for effective pop music and an all but certainly made-up but hopefully very real collaboration between him and Jenny Lewis.
Find Paste Cloud audio from FJM’s 2012 Daytrotter session below. Beneath that, we’ll start things off with his first tweet back and go from there …
