Big news out of Nintendo today, as the gaming giant has apparently decided to stop producing its Wii U console hardware. Gaming industry maven Dr. Serkan Toto broke the news on Twitter a few hours ago:
1) The Nikkei just reports Nintendo will stop producing Wii U within 2016. It doesn’t say they will necessarily start selling NX in 2016.

With the company set to begin work on its next console, the NX, this move makes a good deal of sense. The NX is set to be unveiled some time this year, though it’s as yet unclear when Nintendo will begin selling it. Meanwhile, the Wii U will slowly be phased out as Nintendo depletes its inventory.
