Big Mother Gig - Just Fly By

With 20 years having passed since Big Mother Gig last released new music, you would expect some rust on their new Almost Primed EP. If we're using "Just Fly By" as an indicator though, that is not the case.

There are certainly nods to the band's original contemporaries (perhaps most notably Jawbreaker), but "Just Fly By" definitely feels very much in line with the resurgence of emo and pop punk we've seen over the past few years.

"Just Fly By" hits hard from the jump with an infectious harmonized guitar leads cutting through a wall of fuzz. It rides one of the most recognizable drum patterns in rock and roll into a wave of a chorus sure to find it's way into your head for the next couple of weeks.

The band is reuniting for a hometown show on March 18th at Turner Hall in Milwaukee. This track definitely leaves me hoping the band will find its way on more stages (preferably in New York) afterwards.
