The Van Winkle Distillery is Releasing a 25-Year-Old Bourbon

Think getting your hands on a bottle of 23-year-old Pappy Van Winkle is tough? The limited annual allotment that your local bottle shops and restaurants receive is downright generous compared to the scarcity of the next release from Old Rip Van Winkle Distillery 25 year old Pappy. According to the Bourbon Blog, this super limited batch comes from just 11 barrels which make up a total of 710 bottles. The bourbon was distilled in 1989 an stored at the Van Winkle family distillery until being moved to the Buffalo Trace Distillery’s warehouses in 2002, where they were aged for another 12 years. Then in 2014, the barrels were put into stainless steel tanks to halt the aging process.

So how much will one of these bottles set you back? About $1,800. Until it hits the secondary market, then it’ll probably cost your first born. But each bottle is a handmade glass decanter packaged in a sweet box, so there’s that. The bottles will be released in April.
