Kellogg’s Announce Soda Flavored Pop-Tarts, Facebook is Weirdly Supportive

Food News Facebook

Kellogg’s posted some mind-blowing news to their Pop-Tarts Facebook page on Monday that Crush Orange and A&W Root Beer flavored Pop-Tarts are now available. The response from page like-ers was overwhelming. (Who knew so many people had even gone to the effort of publicly “liking” a page dedicated to Pop-Tarts?)

“Are you serious?” commented one user, voicing the thoughts of many.
“Yes,” a Pop-Tarts Facebook admin replied. “This is not a drill.”

The new flavors are limited edition, and available in select stores nationwide, according to the company. They announced news of the carbonated beverage-inspired pastries in April, promising a May release. To address the obvious first question, here is how Kellogg’s describes the taste of the new Pop-Tarts, as reported by Michigan Live:

Frosted A&W Root Beer: “bubbling with root beer-flavored filling, wrapped inside a golden crust, and are topped with sweet white frosting and brown, red and orange crunchlets.”

Frosted Crush Orange: “Citrus-flavored filling will tingle your taste buds with its sweet white frosting and orange string icing.”

After posting a picture of the new Pop-Tarts with the caption, “Go ahead. Crack one open. The new A&W Root Beer and Crush Orange flavors are here!” a mind-boggling amount of pleased users took to the comment section to profess unadulterated excitement for the new flavors. In less than 48 hours, the post has been shared nearly 8,000 times and has received more than 2,500 comments. Kellogg’s has also been PR-ready for the onslaught of love, responding to almost every comment.

“I’m so thankful, I have been talking about soda flavored pop tarts before it was a thing. Did you guys read my mind?” asked one Facebooker.
“We tend to do that…. So maybe,” the company replied.

There are currently 42 Pop-Tart flavors listed on the company’s website, including the new soda flavors, and another recent offbeat flavor: Maple bacon. Read more of the hilariously Pop-Tart-smitten comments on the original Facebook announcement here.
