General Mills Releases Their First New Cereal Brand Since 2001

You can now buy a fruity miniature toast cereal at grocery stores near you. General Mills unveiled a new cereal brand, Tiny Toast, through a blog post. Tiny Toast is their first new cereal brand in 15 years, since the debut of Harmony, a nutritious cereal made for women that was later discontinued.

Like the name suggests, Tiny Toast is shaped like miniature pieces of toast topped with either blueberries or strawberries. The cereal is made with real fruit and contains no high-fructose corn syrup, artificial flavors or colors.

Though General Mills has created many new cereals in the past, Tiny Toast is the first cereal created without extensions of existing brands—it’s also the first cereal (that we know of) to be rapped about on The Late Show. Recently, cereal has been losing its popularity over other breakfast foods like breakfast sandwiches and yogurt, CBS reports.

In addition to creating Tiny Toast, General Mills has revised many cereal recipes, such as adding more cinnamon to Cinnamon Toast Crunch, and invested in other breakfast options like muesli, granola bits and oatmeal.
