Behold the Action-Packed New Trailer to the TMNT Sequel

2014’s Michael Bay-produced, CGI-heavy Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles wasn’t exactly well received critically, but it did cruise to a muscular $500 million worldwide box office, so a sequel was inevitable. TMNT: Out of the Shadows arrives in theaters June 3, and the film just dropped its second full-length trailer.

As in the first movie, the trailer gleefully discards common sense but also maintains a certain fondness for the attitudes and characters of the TMNT universe, feeling particularly inspired by the classic ‘80s animated TV series. We get a better look in this trailer at mutated rhino and warthog henchmen Beebop and Rocksteady in particular, as played by Gary Anthony Williams and former WWE Champion Stephen “Sheamus” Farrelly. It’s hard not to at least grin at their ridiculous portrayals. Also showing up in the trailer: Vigilante Casey Jones, whose hockey sticks blaze into action.

TMNT: Out of the Shadows is presumably on its way to another critical drubbing, but it honestly looks like a fun, lighthearted action flick for the grade school contingent in the audience.
