Blair Witch Gets Claustrophobic New Trailer

Blair Witch is out with a spooky new trailer to get you excited about going back into the woods again. The trailer doesn’t really show much except for college kids camping where they probably shouldn’t be camping and a couple of jump scares, and those aren’t exactly new territory for horror movies. This new Blair Witch is a sequel to the original Blair Witch Project as a new group of people venture into the woods to find out what happened to the original’s ill-fated trio.

This trailer isn’t out of the ordinary for Blair Witch, the makers of which have been playing their cards close to their collective chest since the film’s inception. It was initially filmed and marketed under the name The Woods, until it was revealed to be a Blair Witch Project sequel at San Diego Comic-Con in June.

If there’s any reason to give Blair Witch the benefit of the doubt, though, it’s the writer and director duo behind it. Director Adam Wingard and writer Simon Barrett are the duo responsible for You’re Next and The Guest, two of the most acclaimed horror movies of the last few years.

It’ll be interesting to see how the original found-footage horror franchise ups its game now that found-footage movies are the bog standard of horror cinema.
