Hot Tub Time Machine 2 Predicted Jon Stewart’s Daily Show Retirement

Whether it was from a time-porting tub or a pot-infused hallucination, the gang of Hot Tub Time Machine 2 are scarily accurate when it comes to predicting the future. In a strange turn of events, Uproxx has released a clip from the upcoming comedy which shows its three lead characters Nick (Craig Robinson), Lou (Rob Corddry) and Jacob (Clark Duke) watching a Jon Stewart-less version of The Daily Show ten years from the present. Better still, the writer behind the film, Josh Heald, must have envisioned some long foretold prophesy about who would take over the reigns after Stewart’s departure.

In the clip, the three buddies press pause on their chaotic adventures to enjoy some down time with an episode of the comedy news show. Set 26 years after Stewart’s first appearance on the show, current Daily Show correspondent Jessica Williams has now successfully become Stewart’s worthy successor. Williams is not a wildly unlikely candidate for the next anchor of the show. Stephen Colbert worked as a correspondent on the show for eight years before pursuing his own program. Jon Oliver only recently left to begin Last Week Tonight. Williams has worked on the show since 2012 and would be the first female correspondent to receive an anchoring position following the show, not to mention being the youngest and the first African-American.

In a few less likely scenarios, the video also mentions Neil Patrick Harris as the country’s first openly gay president. An idea we could get behind but we don’t see happening any time soon unless he announces his political aspirations within the next couple weeks. In addition, Jennifer Lawrence has apparently been granted the title of a “dame” by the British Monarchy in the future. We also strongly approve of the idea of a Meryl Streep biopic appropriately titled Streeping it Real. But that’s not really a prediction. It’s guaranteed to happen sometime soon.

Hot Tub Time Machine hits theaters Feb. 20.
