You Can Watch Wes Anderson’s Isle of Dogs With Your Pup at West Coast “BYOD” Screening

Wes Anderson’s much-anticipated new stop-motion film Isle of Dogs has already provided plenty of delight ahead of its March 23 release, and this morning brings a bit more: A San Francisco theater has announced a “Bring Your Own Dog (BYOD)” screening of the film, set for Monday, March 19 at 7 p.m. EST, per IndieWire.

The Roxie Theater’s official release explains:

This is a BYOD event! Dogs are invited and will be in attendance at this screening. Dogs and owners will each need to have a ticket to attend. You do not need to have/bring a dog to attend. Owners are responsible for their dog’s behavior. Overly aggressive or uncontrollable dogs will be asked to leave.

The Roxie’s BYOD screening is the first of its kind to be announced, though we can only imagine other theaters will follow suit. After all, they’re tapping into a market that doesn’t tend to buy many movie tickets. We can’t believe the makers of The Secret Life of Pets didn’t think of this.

Isle of Dogs is Anderson’s second stop-motion effort after 2009’s Fantastic Mr. Fox. The film features a beyond-stacked voice cast, including Bryan Cranston, Jeff Goldblum, Scarlett Johansson, Tilda Swinton, Edward Norton, Liev Schreiber, Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, Greta Gerwig, Harvey Keitel, Bob Balaban, F. Murray Abraham, Frank Wood, Yoko Ono, Fisher Stevens, Courtney B. Vance, Mari Natsuki, Akira Ito, Yojiro Noda, Akira Takayama and Kunichi Nomura. Newcomer Koyu Rankin voices the film’s protagonist, Atari Kobayashi.
