Watch the Captivating Trailer for Alfonso Cuarón’s Roma

Oscar winner Alfonso Cuarón’s Roma won’t be released on Netflix for another month, but the film’s official trailer, released Tuesday, already feels like a victory lap. The captivating trailer, set to Pink Floyd’s “The Great Gig In The Sky,” is virtually wordless except for the superimposed accolades of film critics aplenty, many of whom are already calling Roma Cuarón’s masterwork.
Both today’s trailer and its preceding teaser go light on plot, opting instead to establish tone and scope—the black-and-white Roma, Cuarón’s first film since Gravity in 2013, feels like an all-encompassing slice of life, comprising love, war and other such elemental human concepts. Though the film is being pushed as Cuarón’s most personal, it also may very well be his most universal.
