Woody Harrelson Reveals His Star Wars Character’s Name on Fallon

When the news broke that Woody Harrelson was cast in the Han Solo film, it made everyone understandably very, very excited. And why shouldn’t it? His character Haymitch was one of the best parts about the Hunger Games series, and his work in True Detective season one was exemplary. But how does Woody feel about stepping into Star Wars? “Meh.”

Well, not really, but also kind of. In an interview with Jimmy Fallon, Harrelson revealed his character’s name and purpose, saying, “I play a guy named Beckett who’s kind of a criminal and a mentor to Han,” which is not a ton of information and not new to us, outside the name part. But what’s great is his response to Fallon’s question about whether he was a Star Wars fan growing up. He responded, slightly bemused by such a silly proposition, “You know I liked it … I wasn’t ever a fanatic, but it’s nice to be apart of it.” How perfect. Seriously, it must be really nice to have this opportunity and not feel like you’re bursting at the seams.

The as-of-yet-untitled Han Solo film is set for a May 25, 2018 release. Check out the full interview above, in which Harrelson also manages to talk about projects that he really cares about, and find the first cast photo from the forthcoming Star Wars Story here.
