Aphex Twin Released His First Music Video in 17 Years

Aphex Twin has released his first music video in over decade, and it’s directed by a 12-year-old. The video is for “CIRCLON3 [Kolhoznaya mix],” a track on his forthcoming Cheetah EP, which will be released on July 8.

The preteen behind the visual is Ryan Wyer, an Irish YouTuber who goes by “epic1:40dGaming.” His claim to fame is probably “Peppa Pig listens to Apex Twin,” a precocious meme with just a little more than 100 views. A user writes in the comments section, “I’m fairly certain you’re gonna grow up to be like Pablo Picasso 2.” This might be a lofty assessment, but Aphex sure took note of the possibilities of Wyer’s homage.

The eight-minute music video is a fever dream of children dabbing in oversized Aphex Twin T-shirts. They sometimes wear masks of the menacing face from his 1996 album, Richard D. James, and gallivant their hearts out until the screen flashes to the credits and a looming “To Be Continued.”

Check out the full “CIRCLON3 [Kolhoznaya mix]” music video above. You can preorder Cheetah here.
