Watch the Wrestle-tastic Mountain Goats Video for “The Legend of Chavo Guerrero”

When The Mountain Goats released their pro-wrestling themed album Beat The Champ last month, it seemed pretty likely that some very entertaining music videos would soon follow. The band did not disappoint, delivering their video for the upbeat homage, “The Legend of Chavo Guerrero.”
The video, which is shot to resemble an old wrestling tape from the early territory days, features plenty of shenanigans sure to please fans of the fixed sport. Independent pro-wrestlers Ryan Nemeth and Joey Ryan do some of the heavy lifting for the in-ring scenes, and Rob Corddry has an unexpected cameo as a fictional grappler called Powderhound. The song’s subject himself, Mexican wrestling legend Chavo Guerrero, even steps into the ring to throw a body slam and moonsault before standing by as Mountain Goats frontman John Darnielle literally sings his praises.
