St. Paul & The Broken Bones Announce New Album, Sea of Noise

Music News St. Paul & The Broken Bones

Neo-soul band St. Paul & The Broken Bones have announced that their sophomore album, Sea of Noise, will be released on Sept. 9 on young label RECORDS.

A press release from the band reveals that the new album will feature “the heart pounding infusion of old school R&B, soul, funk and rock that St. Paul & The Broken Bones have built their reputation on.” It goes on to say that the major theme of the album will be a commentary on society and will address current social issues, including a challenge to gender with a song called “I’ll Be Your Woman.”

From Birmingham, Ala., the band has a conservative eight pieces, consisting of showstopping lead vocalist Paul Janeway, bassist Jesse Phillips, guitarist Browan Lollar, keyboardist Al Gamble, drummer Andrew Lee, trumpeter Allen Bransetter, Chad Fisher on trombone and Jason Mingledorff playing saxophone. The band’s last release was 2013’s Half the City, which earned them national attention and gigs on the likes of CBS Sunday Morning, Jimmy Kimmel Live and The Late Show with David Letterman. Their infectiously funky live performance ability landed them two chances to open for The Rolling Stones in 2015, and wowed our staff during the third day of Atlanta’s Shaky Knees music festival.

We’ve had our eyes on St. Paul & The Broken Bones since 2013, when they were featured as one of our “Best of What’s Next.” To get us even more excited for Sept. 9, the band published a trailer for Sea of Noise today, which you can watch below.
