Watch The Kills Join John Cale to Play Velvet Underground Classics
A few days ago we mentioned that Velvent Underground founding member John Cale would be marking the 50th anniversary of the band’s seminal album, The Velvet Underground & Nico, with three concerts this fall at the Brooklyn Academy of Music as part of the 2017 Next Wave Festival.
Those concerts are coming up in November and promise appearances by the Wordless Music Orchestra and some “special guests.” This week, Cale was joined in Liverpool by The Kills, Clinic, Wild Beasts and others for a show that included Velvet Underground & Nico tracks as well as the title song from 1968’s White Light/White Heat. Below, watch Cale and The Kills play the ballad “Sunday Morning” (with Alison Mosshart playing the Nico role) and a double shot of “I’m Waiting for the Man” and “White Light/White Heat.”
