True Wilco fans wince at the "alternative country section" label associated with the band. An offshoot of Uncle Tupelo, rockers Jeff Tweedy and Ken Coomer formed Wilco in 1994 with John Stirratt, Max Johnson and Jay Bennett. Since their inception, Wilco has seen a few changes among bandmates, a well publicized rehab attempt by front man Tweedy and produced a handful of wistful albums. Through the changing tides, Wilco has held a steady group of followers who view them as "a great American band," plain and simple.
