AOC Calls Out Kellyanne Conway for Skipping Congressional Hearing
Photo by Alex Wong/GettyLooks like AOC isn’t happy with Kellyanne Conway’s decision to prioritize a daytime television interview over the House Oversight Committee hearing about her alleged ethics violations.
In a heated Twitter feud on Tuesday night, Democratic congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took to Twitter to respond to comments Conway made during a Fox & Friends interview that morning, where the senior White House adviser claimed Ocasio-Cortez lied about the conditions she witnessed at immigrant detention centers near the U.S.-Mexican border.
“How many migrant women has Kellyanne Conway touched? Hugged? Sat on a concrete floor with?” Ocasio-Cortez wrote in her tweet. “The answer is none. Her actions show she doesn’t believe all human beings are worthy of basic dignity.”
How many migrant women has Kellyanne Conway touched? Hugged? Sat on a concrete floor with? Actually listened to?
The answer is none. Her actions show she doesn’t believe all human beings are worthy of basic dignity.
That‘s why she defends & muddies the clear and indefensible. https://t.co/NHMeI6Bx5r

Conway shot back by retorting that Ocasio-Cortez voted against the $4.6 billion bipartisan humanitarian aid for migrant woman, accusing the congresswoman of being “all talk, no dollars.”
How many migrant women did @AOC help by voting AGAINST the $4.6 billion bipartisan humanitarian aid that is FOR THEM?
(She even voted against the Democrat aid package).
All talk, no dollars. https://t.co/kwNEFwSFNR

The congresswoman responded by noting she doesn’t believe in “billion dollar blank checks for unethical, abusive administrations” and suggesting that Conway should show up to a Congressional hearing next time she wants to talk to her.
“After all, you ran away and skipped out on Oversight committee last week, just to call into Fox and Friends instead,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted.
The $4.6 billion wasn’t humanitarian at all. It had NO accountability measures for facilities that abuse children and families. It didn’t fix the problem, just funded abuse.
I don’t believe in billion dollar blank checks for unethical, abusive administrations. Including yours. https://t.co/IzWJKWUxaN

Also @KellyannePolls, maybe you actually do your job and show up to a Congressional hearing next time you want to talk to me.
After all you, you ran away and skipped out on Oversight committee last week, just to call into Fox and Friends instead. https://t.co/IzWJKWUxaN

Conway was ordered to attend an Oversight hearing last week after a government watchdog agency found the adviser repeatedly violated the Hatch Act, a law prohibiting federal employees from engaging in political activities while acting in their government roles.
White House lawyers rejected the committee’s request for Conway to appear and, in due time, the adviser failed to show up, and instead sat in on Fox News’ morning show, Fox & Friends.
Skipping out doesn’t mean she’s in the clear, however; the House Oversight Committee voted 25 to 16 to authorize a subpoena for the adviser’s testimony, and any moves to defy the subpoena could place Conway in criminal contempt of court.
To quote another AOC tweet completely removed from her Conway e-duel: “When you stand up to bullies once, it gets easier to do each following time.”
