Google Reacts to Trump’s Temper Tantrum

Earlier Tuesday morning, Trump accused Google of censoring conservative news, i.e. articles that make him feel nice. As The Washington Post notes, “It was unclear whether the president had Googled himself, or whether he was referring to a recent piece in PJ Media, a conservative blog.”

Google reacted a few hours later, as WaPo reports, issuing this statement: “When users type queries into the Google search bar, our goal is to make sure they receive the most relevant answers in a matter of seconds. Search is not used to set a political agenda and we don’t bias our results toward any political ideology.”

“Every year, we issue hundreds of improvements to our algorithms to ensure they surface high-quality content in response to users’ queries,” Google continued. “We continually work to improve Google search and we never rank search results to manipulate political sentiment.”

Google is a tool that the president simply doesn’t know how to use; he’s using the eraser end of a pencil and wondering why it isn’t writing. There’s an entire contingency of his supporters who think he’s the second coming, and Trump could easily find that out, if he’d bother altering his search keywords. Yet he cannot exert the effort to even do that. Instead, the country’s economic advisor, Larry Kudlow, is now “looking into it,” per WaPo, with “it” being Trump’s suggestion that the government should regulate Google.

A shooting took place in Jacksonville, Fla., on Sunday, just two days ago. Whether this is a smokescreen or just another presidential bumble remains to be seen. Regardless, the Trump administration is pushing its attentions, yet again, in a totally irrelevant direction.
