Marshmallows, A Veronica Mars Reboot May Still Be Possible

TV News

With the help of its star Kristen Bell, Rob Thomas’ Veronica Mars kickstarter changed the game for fan-funded filmmaking back in 2013. Now Bell is back at it and making believers out of all us in her latest interview with Entertainment Weekly.

After sharing what it was like voicing an erotica novelist for Thomas’ hit CW show iZombie, and comparing her Mars character to Thomas’ new leading lady Liv Moore, Bell revealed her neverending desire to return to Neptune.

According to the House of Lies actress, Bell and Thomas have never stopped talking up the possibility of working together again. And despite their creative brainstorming, both hearts and minds always fall back to creating even more Veronica Mars.

“We’ve ping-ponged other ideas but it always comes back to Veronica Mars because it’s so special to the both of us and in truth, because it’s so beloved by fans,” she told EW. “We have the best fans on the planet so we’re definitely still looking for the window where we could allow Veronica to exist again, whether it’s a miniseries or a short-run cable series.”

So what’s the big hold up? It’s definitely not money this time around. What’s taking Marshmallows so long to get their movie follow-up is actually Thomas and Bell’s schedules.

“There’s a constant dialogue about projects and when we can work together again, and it’s unfortunate that our schedules are quite different and that my kids and current television show keep me very busy so I’m not often available. But he knows I would be there for anything were I to have the time,” Bell said.

“We haven’t dropped the conversation,” Bell continued. “It just might end up being more like a Murder, She Wrote, where I’m 80.”

Sounds like it could be a while before we get a continuation of the Veronica Mars universe. Still, fans waited nearly 7 years for a new installment, so what’s a little longer?
