Born in Shaolin, made in America.

If you weren’t in the loop already, the Wu-Tang Clan are finally receiving the biopic treatment, and Hulu has just unveiled the first glimpse into the prolific rap collective’s forthcoming limited series.

Co-created and co-written by Wu-Tang Clan founding member RZA, Wu-Tang: An American Saga spans 10 episodes, and follows the collective’s formation and eventual rise to stardom. The newly released trailer introduces each founding member of the group running about in the city streets and grungy basements of Staten Island prior to banding together.

The series stars Moonlight’s Ashton Sanders as RZA, Harlem-based rapper Dave East as Method Man and Brooklyn-based rapper Joey Bada$$ as Inspectah Deck, and credits Method Man and Brian Grazer as executive producers alongside RZA.

The series is inspired by previous Wu-Tang biographies The Wu-Tang Manual and Tao of Wu, and follows the group’s recent four-part Showtime documentary Wu-Tang Clan: Of Mics and Men, the latter of which was accompanied by a soundtrack featuring new music from the collective.

Wu-Tang: An American Saga will premiere on Sept. 4 on Hulu. Check out the teaser trailer below and hear a 1999 Wu-Tang performance from the Paste archives further down.
