New George Carlin Album I Kinda Like It When A Lotta People Die Set for September Release

A George Carlin album will be released on Sept. 16, marking the first debut of the late comedian’s material since his death in 2008. The album includes never-before-heard routines, a rare 1957 home recording by Carlin and other original versions of the comedian’s ever-biting jokes.

The new album, titled I Kinda Like It When A Lotta People Die, is rich with comedy as macabre as the name implies. Carlin riffs about his fondness of disasters with mass casualties, asking: “Y’know what’s the best thing I can hear on television? ‘We interrupt this program’ … y’know the worst thing I can hear? ‘No one was hurt’ … I’m always rooting for a really high death toll, that’s why I like natural disasters.” In a sinister coincidence, the routine was originally recorded on the eve of Sept. 11, 2001, and Carlin deemed it inappropriate for release at the time. But now, in this posthumous release, the original, uncensored Carlin is potentially at his most cutting-edge ever.

Beginning Sept. 1, the album can first be heard exclusively on SiriusXM channels Comedy Greats and Carlin’s Corner starting at 4 p.m. EST. A documentary titled George Carlin: A Life in Comedy will air immediately before the album’s debut. Hosted by SiriusXM’s Rob Bennington, the documentary will feature commentary from Penn Jillette, Kevin Hart, Seth Rogen and more. In addition to being released on CD, I Kinda Like It When A Lotta People Die will be available as a limited-edition gatefold, vinyl record.
