James Corden and Ben Winston Will Bring Drop the Mic to TBS

Comedy News James Corden

The Late Late Show host James Corden will partner with executive producer Ben Winston to adapt the popular “Drop the Mic” celebrity rap battle segments into a full-fledged show on CBS for 2017.

The first season of Drop the Mic will feature 16 episodes, each comprised of four celebrities going at it in rap battles full of clever put-downs and joking insults. The show’s studio audience will ultimately decide which contestant had the sickest flows and hottest burns.

Though a host has yet to be revealed, Corden and Winston are also enlisting Jensen Karp, a.k.a. former battle rapper Hot Karl, as an executive producer.

Drop the Mic is such an exciting show, and we can’t wait to begin making it,” said Winston. “Every time we have done this segment on The Late Late Show, it has become a massive viral moment. Now with TBS as our perfect partner, we hope to create some really memorable television.”

The below clip sees Corden and a hungry Anne Hathaway battling it out earlier this summer. Watch it to get a glimpse of the sort of insult-heavy hilarity that may ensue.
