Steve Martin and Martin Short’s Netflix Special Now Has a Trailer
And You Can Watch It Here

Steve Martin and Martin Short, the two amigos who don’t seem to be hated by everybody they’ve ever worked with, share more than just a name. They have a common comic sensibility, one that lovingly sends up old show business stereotypes and mid-century expectations of what a comedian is supposed to do. In a word, they’re both “goofy”—or, as Netflix, in its increasing dependence on adjectives, has decided, they’re “irreverent, feel-good, witty.”
It makes sense that they’ve been doing a stage tour together over the last year. They’re two of the last comedians your parents can name, and they took their old friendship to the road, performing a series of variety-style shows where they shared memories and looked back on the past in a way that is probably both tongue-in-cheek and sweetly sincere. It also makes sense that Netflix signed up the TV rights, as Martin and Short tick off every box on Netflix’s wish list for comedy specials: they are comedians, and they have a special.
Steve Martin and Martin Short: An Evening You Will Forget For the Rest of Your Life will be released on Netflix next week, on Friday, May 25. The first trailer was released this morning through Steve Martin’s Twitter account, and you can see that tweet and watch that trailer below. It promises exactly what you’d expect: irreverence, good feelings, and wit. There’s also music, because Martin can’t go anywhere without that banjo anymore. Check it out below, and while you’re waiting for the full special to come out, enjoy Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers as they bring their bluegrass tomfoolery to the Paste Studio.
Hey, Marty and I have our new NetFlix show on at the end of the month. This month, not just any month. Here’s a trailer. The only trailer. All other trailers are fake trailers. @NetflixIsAJokepic.twitter.com/2tdbtxuPtq
