Huzzah, More Little Mermaid News: Ariel Is Coming to Your Comic Book Shop

Fresh off the heels of announcing Halle Bailey’s casting in the forthcoming live-action remake of The Little Mermaid, Disney has announced the release a three-issue comic series based on the animated film with independent publisher Dark Horse Comics.

Set for release on Oct. 16, the series will explore the story of Ariel losing her voice and finding true love through a first-person perspective.

The entertainment behemoth and publisher seem to be confederates of some sort: the two previously teamed up to release graphic adaptations of Frozen, The Incredibles 2, Zootopia and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, among others.

Both companies are entrusting Disney/Dark Horse veteran Cecil Castellucci (Disney Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs) to pen the series, with Zulema Scotto Lavina making her American comic book debut as the series’ artist.

The series will arrive on Oct. 16 and is available for preorder at your local comic shop. Click here for a list of comic vendors near you.
