Sleight of Hand Cellars 2014 “Force of Nature” Syrah ($60)
Yes, it’s costly. But this episode will tax your attention span too.
From the fabled Les Collines Vineyard in Walla Walla, this Syrah is not for the impatient. It’ll age 25 years at least as well as Laura Dern, but you need to be in it for the long haul, which is clearly the correct attitude to have toward Twin Peaks. It opens up slowly, it’s Black-Lodge black, incredibly intense, almost… electric. Dark, brooding, densely mineral in nature, and a definite invoker of Larger Forces. Proceeds from this wine are partially donated to the Seattle chapter of the American Society for Suicide Prevention in honor of Eric Dunham, a talented winemaker who ended his life in 2014 at age 44.
