15 Iconic Fictional Cars
The hero may get all the attention, but before we “ooh” over James Bond’s suave moves or “ahh” over the way the Ghostbusters so speedily reach their ghost-infested destination, we should take a moment to consider the essential question: Where would they be without their cars? Also: How cool would it be to drive their cars?
We’ve compiled a list of 15 awesome fictional cars, many of which we’d like to own ourselves:
15. Lightning McQueen
Not only is Lightning McQueen the star of his own movie, but he can also drive himself. And McQueen may look like your typical hotshot racecar; however he’s definitely more than a fancy engine. Undoubtedly, his racing skills will win a few NASCAR trophies, but he’d also be a pretty cool dude to hang out with, especially if he brings along his good friend Mater. We can even forgive him for his subpar sequel and for spinning off Planes if Disney would just promise to leave this world alone for a little while.
14. The Flintstones’ Flintmobile
Considering the Flintstones lived in the Stone Age, it’s pretty impressive that they’d already come up with the concept of a car. Admittedly, it wasn’t the most efficient, being made of stone and powered by feet (although it is definitely eco-friendly). But still, props to Fred Flinstone for dragging that thing to work every morning.
13. The Kart from Mario Kart
Go-karts are the heart and soul of one of Nintendo’s most cutthroat and competitive games. And imagine how convenient it would be if you could power-up your car in real life by simply driving over mushrooms and coins? Just make sure you watch out for those pesky banana peels.
12. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is a flying car with pop-out wings that <<a href=”http://youtu.be/ZTTzcXSLjhI”>i>has its own song. Fantasmagorical! Speaking of flying cars…
11. The Flying Ford Anglia from Harry Potter
The Weasleys’ enchanted Muggle car ended up being pretty nifty in the Potter series when Ron and co. used it to bail Harry out of Privet Drive, and again when Harry and Ron took it for a spin to Hogwarts (minus the whole flying-into-the-Whomping-Willow part). Most importantly though, an enchanted flying car is pretty damn cool.
10. Scooby Doo’s Mystery Machine
Where would the gang be without their groovy van? Where would they stash their scooby snacks? How would they get to all the mysteries that need solving? As a plus, the iconic van sports some spectacularly psychedelic lettering and flower-power inspired designs.
