Take a First Look at Chucky in the New Child’s Play Movie

Gone is the original Chucky in his Good Guys overalls sporting a mop of unruly hair. Now we’re getting a first look at the new iteration of the doll in the forthcoming Child’s Play remake, who’s a little sleeker (is that gel in his hair? Or the blood of his victims?) and has a new brand, the overly wholesome sounding “Buddi.” Other than that, he still bears a fairly close resemblance to your good old pal Chucky.
Of course, behind the toy, some changes have happened. It’s been implied that in the new film, out on June 21, Chucky will instead be a “out-of-control robot doll” rather than a murderous product of voodoo magic. Brad Dourif’s iconic voice is being swapped out for that of Mark Hamill, because what studio doesn’t want to capitalize on that star power? And, in fairness, Hamill’s voice acting as The Joker in Batman: The Animated Series proves he’s got one hell of a chilling laugh.
