Jared Leto Gifted His Suicide Squad Castmates With a Dead Pig
Photo courtesy of Twitter, David AyersJared Leto really took his method acting to the extreme during the filming of Suicide Squad, co-star Viola Davis revealed during an interview with Vanity Fair.
Davis shared that during the filming of DC and Warner Bros. movie chronicling the team-up of some of the comic universe’s most insidious bad guys, Leto sent co-stars “horrific gifts” while getting into character as The Joker. One of which was a dead pig, delivered to the whole group.
The pig carcass was delivered during a rehearsal and by what Davis described as a “henchman,” serving as Leto’s first real introduction to his castmates. The method actor also reportedly sent bullets to Will Smith (Deadshot), a rat to Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), and a mysteriously wrapped package to Jay Hernandez (El Diablo).
It’s a wild way to get into a role and it seemingly worked in setting the proper on-set tone, but we’re hoping the very real pig wasn’t killed just for the sake of the very unreal character’s stunt.
