Jim Carrey Partnering with Eli Roth for Comic-Based Horror Flick Aleister Arcane

Movies News jim carrey

A member of the informal gory director club, The Splat Pack, Eli Roth’s next venture is an adaptation of the Aleister Arcane comic book, starring none other than the kooky Jim Carrey as the titular protagonist.

The comic, written by Steve Niles and published in 2004, follows how a weatherman, Aleister Green, goes back to his hometown to host a gory midnight horror show under the pseudonym Aleister Arcane. Green is sent to an early grave, and the curse he put on the town that detested him causes grisly events.

Jon Croker, who penned The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death, will write the script for the Hostel director’s adaptation.

Though the comedic actor who has starred in The Truman Show and Dumb and Dumber may seem like an odd choice for a horror film, especially one from Roth, Carrey is also starring in Ana Lily Amipour’s The Bad Batch, which is due later this year. Jim Scary, anyone?
