Watch the First Trailer for Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle

In a vlog-styled post to his Facebook page, Dwayne Johnson, who’s currently dominating 2017, just shared the first trailer for Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.

The new movie had drawn criticism for Karen Gillan’s impractically skimpy outfit, yet she insisted the clothes would make sense, as it’s a comment on how videogames depict female characters. In the trailer for the modern take on the 1990s original, we see none of the players had much choice in how they’re portrayed.

The trailer begins with four teens tasked to clean out the school basement in detention, where they unearth a console-style version of Jumanji. After picking characters played by Johnson, Gillan, Kevin Hart and Jack Black, they’re sucked into the dusty television set and thrown onto the jungle floor. The catch? (Other than being transported to a deadly jungle?) None of them like their characters except for Spencer, who gains 200 pounds of muscle as The Rock; cool girl Bethany is horrified to find herself in the body of Black as Professor Shelly Oberon.

Once they adjust to their new bodies, there’s a lot of man-eating animals, helicopter chases and temple booby traps to face. And of course the trailer is set to Gun and Roses’ “Welcome to the Jungle.” The film is directed by Jake Kasdan and hits theaters on Dec. 20. Watch the first trailer above.
