Casting Call for The Avengers: Infinity War Lists Captain Marvel, Guardians of the Galaxy in Cast

Movies News Marvel

For years, fans have been speculating about who is going to appear in the third and fourth Avengers movies, originally titled The Avengers: Infinity War: Part I and Part II, and now a casting call for extras and stand-ins has hinted at the involvement of the Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange and Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel.

The casting call says that filming for “Avengers: Infinity War and its Untitled Avengers Movie sequel” will begin in January of 2017, with all of the previously featured Avengers included in the cast list. Also listed are Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel and new member Karen Gillan as the Guardians. Benedict Cumberbatch and Benedict Wong are listed as reprising their characters Doctor Strange and Wong. But perhaps most notable is the inclusion of Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, making Avengers: Infinity War her first appearance before she gets her own solo movie in 2019.

Interestingly, neither Tom Holland as Spider-Man nor Anthony Mackie as The Falcon are listed. Peter Parker sitting the big fight out makes sense, considering his movie seems to be all about how Tony Stark doesn’t want him facing down big threats, but Falcon’s exclusion is more out of place considering his roles in The Avengers: Age of Ultron and Captain America: Civil War.

The text for the casting call probably isn’t straight from Marvel itself, and this is a far cry from an official Marvel announcement, so maybe don’t read too deep into anything here. Still, if we don’t have to wait until 2019 to see Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, we’re perfectly okay with that. Read up on how the Russo brothers may have let this slip over the summer here.
