Photos by Graham Bartholomew/Warner Bros. We’ve known for a while that Warner Bros. is bringing Lara Croft back to the big screen, with Oscar-winning actress Alicia Vikander in the lead role. We’ve seen Vikander in some set photos, but now the studio is releasing more official looks at the new Tomb Raider, based on the 2013 reboot videogame, including the first poster via the film’s Twitter page.

Vikander’s Lara Croft holds a pickaxe, an essential tool that players of the videogame are no doubt familiar with. Additionally, we have our first footage from the film, as the studio teased that a full trailer will be released tomorrow.

From just these 15 seconds, we see that this adaptation will be quite true to the gritty, perilous and violent tone that defined the 2013 videogame. Directed by Roar Uthaug (The Wave), the film will also star Walton Goggins as the villain, and Dominic West as Croft’s deceased archeologist father. The film will release on March 16, 2018.
As we wait for the full trailer’s release, we can pass the time by looking at that poster and trying to figure out what in God’s name is wrong with Lara’s neck. Seriously, that Photoshop job makes the lithe Vikander look more like a Jurassic Park raptor.
