Tom DeLonge Quit Blink-182 to Go Full-Blown UFO Investigator

Music News blink-182

Last year, the world learned that Blink-182 frontman Tom DeLonge was going through a “friendly divorce” with bandmates Travis Barker and Mark Hoppus.

Blink-182 have since moved on by recruiting Alkaline Trio singer Matt Skiba to fill DeLonge’s shoes and are set to release a new album titled California on July 1.

Meanwhile, DeLonge has also been busy. In a new interview with Mic, DeLonge said he is creating a media franchise called Sekret Machines dedicated to documenting and promoting evidence for the existence of aliens through novels, documentaries and music from DeLonge’s other band, Angels and Airwaves.

Due to the serious time commitment required to get the franchise up in the air, DeLonge said touring with his former band wasn’t an option:

When you’re an individual like me, dealing with something that’s a national security issue, and you’re being gifted with the opportunity to communicate something you’ve been passionate about your whole life — something that has the opportunity to change the world over time — being a small part of that is enormously important for my life path. But I can’t do everything. I can’t tour nine months out of the year with enough time to do the enormity of what I’m setting out to do.

Throughout the interview, DeLonge appears to be quite knowledgeable about current extraterrestrial research, citing examples from the Search For Extraterrestrial Intelligence Institute and revealing a long-buried reference in an Enema of the State deep cut.

Delonge says that the last line of the song “Aliens Exist” recalls an “urban legend in UFO folklore called Majestic 12, these documents that got leaked in the ‘80s that described an entire organization of top-level scientists, military people and intelligence officials that manage the information of this phenomenon.”

However, despite his candid answers to Mic’s questions, Delonge says there are secrets he would like to show us, but he thinks he’d blow our minds:

I don’t think I’m going to be the person that offers the best evidence unless people really trust what I’m doing and believe me. There’s been hundreds and hundreds of thousands of eyewitness accounts. Trace evidence that’s been analyzed by scientists across the world. Events have happened on the ground. It’s all around us. I know of stuff I can’t talk about right now.

While pondering the possibilities, give “Aliens Exist” a re-listen to examine the clues DeLonge buried way back before Y2K.
