Brian Eno Announces Solo Album
Brian Eno is less a musician and more a manipulator of sounds, so it’s not a big surprise that his new album, The Ship, is described as “almost as much musical novel as traditional album”—whatever that means—in a lengthy press release.
Based on Eno’s statements, it sounds like The Ship, out April 29, is an ambient album—actually, an ambient album inspired by World War I (seriously, read the press release).
The album is composed of two tracks: the 21-minute “The Ship” and “Fickle Sun,” which follows three movements, the finale of which is a cover of The Velvet Underground’s “I’m Set Free.”
