Car Seat Headrest Share Poignant New Song, “Does It Feel Good (To Say Goodbye?)”
Image via Ray-Ban Films/YouTubeCar Seat Headrest’s awe-inspiring Teens of Denial is one of Paste’s foremost favorite albums of 2016 so far, so you can imagine our excitement about new music from Will Toledo and company. The band have shared “Does It Feel Good (To Say Goodbye?)” today, a new tune composed for Loudini, a short film about a struggling magician.
Written and directed by Conor Byrne, produced by Tyler Byrne and presented by Ray-Ban Films, Loudini stars Henry Zebrowski (whom you might recognize as The Wolf of Wall Street’s Alden “Sea Otter” Kupferberg) as Lou, as well as Toledo himself as a busker playing part of his band’s melancholy new song. “Does It Feel Good (To Say Goodbye?)” gets going at the film’s 1:45 mark, with Toledo’s vocals kicking in at 2:15 and the man himself showing up at 2:35.

“Does It Feel Good (To Say Goodbye?)” Lyrics:
I have been working
Working on something
Something you’ll never see
It is a boat
It’s almost done
There’s just enough room for me
You heard the hammer and
You had the question but
Instead you just let it be
Cause it’s been raining
Pretty hard and
You know we live right by the sea
Does it feel good to say goodbye?
Bye bye bye
I had a good friend
We had a good fight
We’re not friends anymore
He cut me down
I asked him why, he said
That’s what friends are for
At the time I thought
He might be right
And it shook me to the core
I found out later
He’d just seen his ex-girlfriend
Just another vote for the war
Well, fuck you, man
Does it feel good to say goodbye?
Bye bye bye
