Chris Farren Releases “First Place”

Songwriter and producer Chris Farren has released the latest offering from his new album Doom Singer, out August 4 via Polyvinyl. “First Place” is a cheekily self-deprecative number ruminating on a wavering relationship. “I’ve been doing the bare minimum, yet somehow it’s still not enough,” Farren opines. The song is jazzy and bouncy, its lyrics simultaneously raw and easily digestible. The accompanying music video, directed by comedian Mitra Jouhari, sees Farren fall desperately in love with the woman who delivers his mail, daydreaming about a future he’s too frightened to ask for in 1980’s technicolor style.
