Gorillaz Are Getting a TV Show

Gorillaz have a lot going on right now, so much so that it’s actually starting to get repetitive to say, “Gorillaz have a lot going on right now.” The impending release of Humanz would be enough. But there’s also an augmented reality app and listening party, festival dates and a trove of 40-45 unreleased songs from the digital apes that Damon Albarn has at the ready. (He’s also working on a sequel to The Good, the Bad and The Queen.)

To add to that information overload, illustrator Jamie Hewlett tells Q Magazine that he’s working on a 10-episode TV series about 2D, Murdoc, Noodle and Russel.

Hewlett didn’t really add much beyond that, but considering all of the crazy stuff that’s happened to the band in its videos, there’s a wealth of source material to use. Nerdist mentions a zombie apocalypse show based on the “Clint Eastwood” video. But what about a show with the band windmilling throughout the galaxy? A whole drag-racing show? There’s a head-spinning amount of options to consider.

Before drowning even more in this Gorillaz deluge, check out the clips for the recent “Let Me Out” ft. Pusha T and Mavis Staples, and “Andromeda” ft. D.R.A.M. below. The rest of their new singles are here, and Humanz is out on April 28.
