Serious girl power alert: New Jersey rock trio Screaming Females are going on tour with support from Minneapolis three-piece Kitten Forever.
The band has extended their already-lengthy U.S. tour in conjunction with their seventh studio album, All At Once, released earlier this year via Don Giovanni Records. The record is sprinkled with frontwoman Marissa Paternoster’s commanding lead guitar and poetic lyrics delivered with equal amounts of grace, fervor and grit. It features blistering singles like the jumpy “I’ll Make You Sorry,” the emotive “Deeply,” the punk/power-pop crossover “Black Moon” and the gripping, building “Glass House.”
Paste contributor Beverly Bryan applauded the group’s refreshing back-to-basics approach on their new album. “After being thoroughly and perversely encrypted for so long, it’s bracing to hear one of the most original practicing voices in rock (musically, vocally, lyrically) speaking so plainly on every level,” she wrote in her review. “With some bands it would mean a capitulation or slackening. For Screaming Females, it is just another display of power.”
After Screaming Females return from an 11-date U.K. tour, they will stop in American cities often skipped by the typical U.S. tour circuit, including Boise, Idaho, Hot Springs, Ark., Lancaster, Pa., and Las Cruces, N.M.
