Slow Dancer Signs to ATO, Shares Video for “Don’t Believe,” Announces First U.S. Shows

New ATO Records signee Slow Dancer makes tender, striking and … slow R&B that’s hook-heavy without being too syrupy. And that’s precisely how the Melbourne, Australia, native’s video for recent track “Don’t Believe” plays out.

In the clip, Slow Dancer (multi-instrumentalist Simon Okely) wanders around scenic backyard pools and dingy bowling alleys with a restless gaze obscured by thick green shades. Okely says his music is partially inspired by memories of long country drives through Western Australia and just such a drive appears in the video, albeit late at night. So there’s seduction and passion to Slow Dancer’s work, but also a sentimentality and longing for the past.
