We fell in love with New York band SUSU when we first recorded them down in Guatemala for Gaby Moreno’s birthday festival, raising money for the non-profit Fundal to help educate children with disabilities. We later recorded a session back in their home city last year. And then we invited them to our party in Austin during SXSW earlier this year.
The band’s not-so-secret weapon is a dynamic duo of frontwomen, Liza Colby of the Liza Colby Sound and Kia Warren of Revel In Dimes. They’re backed by guitarist Joey Wunsch, bassist Connor McClelland and durmmer Ronald Anthony Bruno. The band’s debut full-length Call Susie is coming out in November.
