Macaulay Culkin Says The Pizza Underground Will Deliver an Album

Music News The Pizza Underground

After disappearing for two years, Macaulay Culkin says The Pizza Underground, a Velvet Underground cover band topped with pizza puns, will soon deliver their debut album.

The order comes from Macaulay’s recent chat with “The Guardian, his first formal interview in 10 years.

According to Culkin, the band never trashed the project completely. Instead, a fully recorded album, complete with a children’s choir and symphony orchestra, currently waits for release.

Hopefully, that means fans can finally add songs like “I’m Waiting for Delivery Man,” “All the Pizza Parties” and “Take a Bite of the Wild Slice” to their record collections.

“It’s one of those good ideas you have when you’re drunk, and you wake up and forget about it. But we’re taking it to the end of the joke,” said Culkin of his band.

He’s also quite pleased with just how cheesy his band is. “Of course I find it funny! We rhyme mushrooms with mushrooms, come on. It’s the same joke, relentlessly. Like, they’re really doing this?” he said.

Unfortunately, The Pizza Underground doesn’t feature an app to track the record’s delivery progress. Until then, read Culkin’s full interview here, and consider snacking on this delicious medley of material the band recorded for a Daytrotter session in Texas back in 2014, via the Paste Cloud.
