At Last, Ty Segall Covers the Squidbillies Theme Song

Ty Segall plus Squidbillies cynicism is the current cultural aesthetic, and an appropriate response to late capitalism, among other things.

Mr. Segall is the latest artist to cover the Squidbillies theme, and his version is set to appear at the beginning of the fourth episode, airing this Sunday, Nov. 5 at midnight. The cover follows others by Laura Jane Grace of Against Me!, Steve Earle and Bob Mould, whose renditions debuted for the first three episodes of season 11. Squidbillies has also featured artists such as T-Pain, Band of Horses, Alabama Shakes, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Todd Rundgren, Dwight Yoakam, Father John Misty and Kurt Vile, plus forthcoming covers from Weird Al Yankovic and John Prine.

Why we secretly think Ty’s might be the best yet: Distortion and fuzz make for a very painful mockery of pain without undermining the sage advice of the Cuylers, and allowing for the War on Christmas and Gender-Neutral Restrooms to be at the forefront of American debate.
