Description

Gustaf Emanuel Hildebrand Aulén (born 15 May 1879, died 16 December 1977) was a Lutheran theologian, the Bishop of Strängnäs in the Church of Sweden. Aulén's most famous work - Christus Victor - in 1930, was translated into English in 1931. This work still exerts considerable influence on contemporary theological thinking on the atonement, and is the work from which most people would know the term "Christus Victor" in reference to the atonement.
