Description
I met Gustavo Faleiro in Brazil in 2008. It’s only right that we were both making music when it happened. Gustavo was playing piano and singing, while I was in the back of the
room with headphones producing music on my laptop. We were both interested in what the
other was doing - and it has been that way ever since.
So imagine my excitement when Gustavo and his family moved to Paris, France. It was great
to have them in Europe. Our proximity to each other opened some doors for us to
collaborate on a few albums. Out of that partnership came this project: “Rue de la
Convention”. It's named after the address where Gustavo lived, and where we recorded much
of this album. Far from a pristine studio environment, the sounds of the city play a part
in the sonic signature of this record.
The catalyst for "Rue de la Convention" was Paris itself.
Gustavo and I would perform on the streets in Montmartre for the passers-by. The sound of
the hang drum would echo off the Sacre´-Cœur, inviting people to stop and listen. This is
how we made this EP. The songs are about refugees, street children, romance - life. We hope you enjoy it.
