Brett Kavanaugh Steps on Yet Another Rake, Calling Birth Control an “Abortion-Inducing Drug”
Photos by Drew Angerer/GettyOn Thursday, Brett Kavanaugh cemented his middle-school boy-level sex education when he called birth control an “abortion-inducing drug,” as the Huffington Post reports. He was responding to a question from Ted Cruz regarding his decision in the 2015 case Priests for Life v. HHS, or Hobby Lobby. Unsurprisingly, Kavanaugh sided with Priests for Life.

If it wasn’t already clear that Kavanaugh wants to overrule Roe v. Wade and take away women’s right to choose, let alone simply use contraceptives, it should be now. Kavanaugh has no clue what contraceptives do, what their benefits are or how they work. He’s unqualified. Furthermore, his phrasing indicates a direct hostility not just to the concept of abortion, but to contraception itself.
Judge Kavanaugh just said Burwell v. Hobby Lobby was about “abortion-inducing drugs.” That’s a GROSS misunderstanding of the case, which was about insurance coverage for contraceptives. It’s further proof of Kavanaugh’s hostility toward women’s reproductive freedom. #WhatsAtStake

Trump’s Supreme Court pick is unsurprisingly similar to himself. Kavanaugh’s blatantly wrong statements threaten women who rely on contraceptives to go about their lives. These men are swinging for whatever policy keeps them in power, with no concern for who falls down in the process. Kavanaugh is an ignorant kid uncomfortably close to the driver’s seat.
